The Art of Maison Lancôme

On Wednesday 28th October, I had the privilege of attending what was a stunning event with Lancôme at Saks Fifth Avenue. Since coming out here, I was determined that I’d make the most of the amazing events in and around New York City so I was delighted to receive an invite especially with an internationally revered brand and at an iconic venue!

As some of you may already have been aware, Lancôme started as a fragrance house back in 1935 so they truly are experts in the field and that definitely shone through in the product offering at the event. The Maison Lancôme range exudes luxury in everything from the perfume bottles (more on that later!) to the actual unique scents that were individually curated by 8 of the worlds best perfumers to create a collection that will be perfect for that special someone with the holiday season coming up!

On arrival, we had each of the fragrances explained to us with a bit of history on the Maison Lancôme line (this was where I learnt everything I told you above!). It was great to hear about the different notes in each perfume and if you have the chance to pop in and smell them for yourself, trust me, it will be worth it! The fragrances are categorised into two groups, the florals, and the ouds. As someone who has always steered towards ouds and more ‘masculine’ scents, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked the ‘Lavandes Trianon’ scent as it was very refreshing and had vanilla notes so the Lavender was actually not too overpowering.

As you can see above, one of the most amazing parts of the fragrances is the unique engraving design on each of the bottles. It’s the kind of packaging that once the bottle is empty, you’ll still want to keep on your dresser just purely because of how beautiful it is! Lancôme teamed up with two remarkably talented artists, Alex et Marine (more of their work here) who designed each individual engraving to complement the key ingredients in each fragrance. During the event, as shown below, they were doing a live, free hand illustration which was also mesmerizing to watch!

After learning more of each of the individual fragrances, the hardest part was deciding which one was my favourite. Although it took a lot more back and forth between the different bottles, I finally settled on the Ôud Bouquet! I stuck to my oud loving roots but also loved the floral notes in the scent. As I’m not yet quite the perfume connoisseur, I’ll include below how the fragrance is described perfectly by Lancôme themselves!

Ôud Bouquet is a narcotic and sensual rose. It draws its mysterious depth from the heart of oriental wood and its strength from warm, captivating spices. Fabrice Pellegrin, renowned for his subtle creations, blended a trio of bold woods – composed of 20-year-old Oud Wood and smoky Guaiac Wood softened by the enveloping sweetness of Copahu Wood. The Praline Rose signature, crafted from Centifolia Rose Absolute, Vanilla and a Praline Accord, gives this fragrance an enigmatic and infinitely seductive power. [Woody Oriental]

All in all, such a beautiful event and a great opportunity to learn more about the brand! Thanks again to Lancôme for hosting me for the evening!
